Having Freedom doesn’t mean you are free of consequences. The consequences of every action has to be faced of whatever choice we make. Freedom is then truly a state of mind and is actually in our control. If we don’t do things out of obligation or someone else’s orders, it is freedom. It is our choice whether we want to follow the order, honour the commitment, or not… and then simply be responsible for the consequence.
Eg: I do have the freedom of speech. I can say whatever I want to. With the freedom comes responsibility too. I do not need to follow “rules or laws” while speaking. But i need to be responsible for my words and face the consequences of them, good or bad.
If you order me to finish a project and if i don’t, then i wont get the money, its not an order unless i treat it like that. It’s my choice whether or not to finish the project being fully aware of my ethics and what my consequences would be if I did and if I didn’t. Then if i choose to finish this project, its my choice and no more your order that led me to make the decision. And I need to take that responsibility and not blame you for having forced me to do the work.
Getting more clarity on how these words are often used loosely but mean something deeper…
Freedom, Choice, Responsibility, Consequences, Ethics.
